As you continue to use your Windows® based computer, junk builds up in the “geeky” hidden areas of your system slowing it down and reducing its efficiency. It’s like the computer equivalent of cholesterol. Every time you install and un-install software, run “temporary” programs and forget to remove them, and often simply visiting certain web pages, junk-ware builds up, eating up your computer’s resources until it starts to perform poorly.

Another, recent development are programs called adware and spyware. Although these programs can be debilitating to your system, antivirus programs such as Norton Antivirus don't treat them as viruses because, believe-it-or-not, you voluntarily put them on your system!

Many times these programs are installed by "free" software which claimed to do something else such as tune-up your system, keep your clock updated, or remove pop-up ads (yes, programs claim to remove pop-ups and actually cause them!).

A recent check found some of our client’s PCs to have a dozen of these programs running, accessing servers each and every time the user visits a web site, checks email, or was simply idle for a few seconds. No wonder their computers were slow!

Scumware, adware and spyware infiltrates your computer and does things like:

Send records of all web sites you access to advertisers
Display ads over, under, or after web sites
Secretly download and install software from sponsors
Replace search engines with ad pages
Block access to real search engines, sites, etc.
Send copies of your emails to be analyzed by advertisers
Add porn, drug, loan and other links to innocent web sites.

These programs require expert removal. The “official” removal instructions will often actually install alternative software on your PC. Many of the blocking tools offer you highly technical choices, some of which are not desirable.
